Self Esteem U Can Draw From :)

Yesterday was an awesome day in soccer history for my fifteen-year old son :) The Green team was short players so he volunteered to step in and cover the goalie spot. He has never played that position before, so it was quite a shock to everyone, when this seemingly shy kid, who prefers to be out of the limelight, literally stepped up to the plate.

Well, to make a long story short he did an absolutely brilliant job! He stopped over fifteen shots and The Green Team won the game 3-2! It was also our first win of the season, woo hoo!!! All of his team mates wanted to shake his hand afterwards and the parents and even the referee commented on how amazing he was. It was so great for his self esteem and he literally walked a little taller after that.

We talked about it later that evening and I told him I want you to take this day, revel in it and remember how amazingly -awesome you felt. Revel in it and before you fall asleep tonight live it over and over in your mind. After that store it away in your memory bank, so you can call upon it when you have a day that is not so great - he really liked that idea.

That was my share for the day and something ALL parents and caregivers can teach their children to do too.
