Hello Readers!
I just finished an amazing book on willpower and it has inspired me to get back on track with my writing. I think the most important aspect of writing is consistency, so I am going to dedicate half an hour everyday to this blog. For now, that will have to suffice, as after a rather nasty kidney infection my energy is quite low. But there you have it! The most successful adults that I know are not necessarily those that try hardest with goal-setting, or that read the most motivational books. They are the ones that have an inner CONFIDENCE they WILL get what they strive for.
Every baby is born with his or her own personality, and you can’t MAKE your child be self-confident. The first time I attempted to grow a garden - I noticed two things rather quickly. One, I am not a gardener :) and two if you let the weeds get out of control, they will soon take over your garden. It is pretty easy to use that analogy when it comes to thoughts too. If you keep letting the negative ones in they will choke out the positive ones PDQ. Build Your Child's Self Esteem - I'm unique!
If you can get the message across to your child that he is special and unique, you will be helping him appreciate the differences between himself and others, and realize that it is everything about him that is special, all his unique characteristics, and he doesn't have to be the same as everyone else in order to be accepted.

When I was in my twenties I was lucky enough to be invited to take part in a pilot program, called the "Contemporary Woman Project. A group of about 20 women all single Moms from all walks of life, got together, along with two counselors and spent a weekend in the woods learning how to build trust after a traumatic event. Most of the women had gone through divorce or some other trial and were Monicka@KidsGoals!http://www.blogger.com/profile/15216278016145742119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29522105.post-87792038548827863052012-05-30T18:26:00.000+01:002013-08-11T22:26:20.441+01:00Let Your Kids Be Kids :)

My twenty-year-old daughter shared some of her writing with me a few weeks ago. This is something that doesn't happen very often as she is a very private person, so I was really honoured when she let me read her daily journal. Did you ever notice that when you laugh you feel a whole lot better. You may hold back sometimes from having a really good guffaw because you are worried about what people will think of you, but now research is showing that a good belly laugh can actually alleviate stress, help with depression, lower blood sugar and a myriad of other health benefits.
I recently read an article from Monicka@KidsGoals!http://www.blogger.com/profile/15216278016145742119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29522105.post-18447555543351112332012-05-22T17:41:00.003+01:002013-08-16T01:40:27.485+01:00"Praise" and Children
Praising our kids is an essential part of building their self esteem- so it is worth thinking about in a little more depth.
Children are a lot smarter and more perceptive than we realize, so one important part of praise is that it must be HONEST. If you praise your child for a piece of homework that you don't really feel is very good, he will pick up from your tone of voice or your body Monicka@KidsGoals!http://www.blogger.com/profile/15216278016145742119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29522105.post-54911334376531999372012-05-21T17:45:00.000+01:002012-05-21T17:45:12.957+01:00Rainy Days and Mondays :)I woke up early this morning and looked out the window and it is raining and kind of blah. I didn't post yesterday because it was my Mom's 82nd birthday and also the Victoria Day long weekend so and a lot of my family came up for the auspicious occasion. I decided to visit with them and take the day off.
Even though it is a long weekend I am going to make sure to post today, as I know fromMonicka@KidsGoals!http://www.blogger.com/profile/15216278016145742119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29522105.post-81699885995424967372012-05-20T01:07:00.000+01:002012-05-20T01:07:42.664+01:00Hey Mom and Dad Look What I can do :)

By teaching them at a young age that proper nutrition will help them to grow to their full potential and getting them to try a wide variety of different fruits and vegetables, you will have a better chance of them making smarter food choices as teens and finally as adults.Monicka@KidsGoals!http://www.blogger.com/profile/15216278016145742119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29522105.post-42499999535955428092012-05-17T15:14:00.002+01:002012-05-17T15:14:18.564+01:00Sugar Makes You Not So Smart :(I blogged a few days ago about how exercise can actually make you smarter, but apparently a recent UCLA study with rats shows that a high fructose diet can not only make you gain weight, it can also cause memory loss, and impede learning, because it actually causes the brain to slow down.

At KidsGoals we are firm believers in the power of "visualization" to help kids and adults alike to realize their goals. We believe that if your mind's eye can see the prize, you are more likely to achieve your goal. As A.L. Linall, Jr. so aptly put it "Visualization and belief in a pattern of reality, activates the creative power of realization"

I just sent a good friend of mine his daily inspirational quote and it gave me a bit of food for thought on what to blog about this morning. Well it is soccer day to day in beautiful BC and I am seriously debating on whether to go and watch my son's game. Because none of the evaluations of the players from last summer were turned in last year, the teams are extremely unbalanced.
